Mark Carr, G.E.P.'s International Programs
Director, appeared on the May 2nd, 2003 edition of "Halo VOA,"
a weekly program from the Indonesian service of Voice of America. This
live TV-radio-webcast coincided with Indonesia's National
Education Day and focused on "the role of community in
education." Mark and program host Irawan Nugroho discussed the
success of G.E.P.'s community-based development model and how it addresses
the educational needs of Indonesian youth. They also received questions
from callers about the role of educational reform in the larger context
of Indonesia's recent social and economic changes.
